Eleanor Irene Jolivette, 87, of La Crosse passed peacefully into God’s loving arms on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at the Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility in La Crosse. She was born on Sept. 21, 1922, in La Crosse, to Francis and Eleanor (Adams) Chaffee.
Eleanor graduated from Logan High School in 1939, and married Frank Jolivette on Dec. 30, 1939. She had worked at Jolivette Cleaners and Laundry until her retirement in 1981.
Eleanor was a charter member of Olivet Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a loving mother who will be greatly missed her family.
She is survived by a son, George W. (Kathryn) Jolivette of Oregon, Wis.; a daughter, Elizabeth June Jolivette of La Crosse; two grandchildren, Bradley Jolivette of New Brighton, Minn., and Mary (Randy) Disch of Monticello, Wis.; three great-grandchildren, Adelaide Jolivette of New Brighton, and Tori and Alexa Disch of Monticello; and many nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; a son, Edward; and three sisters, Beverly Chaffee, Ruth Witte and Bette Bothe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Olivet Lutheran Church. Pastor David Baldukas will officiate. Burial will be in the Asbury Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Olivet Lutheran Church Building Fund.
The family expresses a special thank you to Pastor David Baldukas and Pastoral Intern Luanne Sorenson for their many prayers, visits, support and encouragement to Eleanor and the family. To her Olivet Church family for your prayer support and words of encouragement, and many thanks to Dr. David Momont and Dr. Gerlyn Brasic for the care and support to Eleanor and her family. Also, a special thank you to the staff at Bethany Riverside for the exceptional care and kindness given to Eleanor. You all became like Eleanor’s second family.
