DOUSMAN, Wis. — Betty (Zirbes) Helstad, 84, of Dousman passed away peacefully on Tuesday Feb. 19, 2013, at Angels Grace Hospice Center in Oconomowoc, Wis.
Betty was born Nov. 30, 1928, in La Crosse to the late Clarence and Lydia Zirbes. Betty was raised in La Crosse where she married Dorance Helstad of Ettrick on Aug. 29, 1949. The couple moved to Berlin, Wis. in 1962. Dorance and Betty enjoyed many happy years in Berlin until he preceded her in death in 1993. Betty was also preceded in death by one brother Clarence “Red” Zirbes Jr. Betty is survived by daughter Lori (Steven) Anacker, Dousman, and son Timothy (Lori) Helstad, Green Bay, Wis.; two sisters, Carol (Thomas) Abraham, La Crosse, and Janice (Ken) Wooden, Winona, Minn.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A burial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday May 11 at French Creek Lutheran Church, French Creek, Wis. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with a lunch to follow the burial service. Betty’s family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at Aurora Hospital and Angels Grace Hospice of Oconomowoc for their wonderful care of Betty and family support.
